Rhythm

drum.jpgWhen developing Communitas, we believed it to be important to have a basic, simple, functional rhythm in the way that we participate in community.

So, our rhythm involves being a part of a community, a gathering, and a serving opportunity. These things are not required, they are just the way that we do life together in the way of Jesus.

Communities are groups of people who gather in homes, coffee shops, bars, …wherever to help each other follow Christ. They usually gather two to four times a month. You can expect a low-key, relaxed atmosphere that involves food, fun, honest discussion, and artistic expression.

Gatherings are the opportunity for all of the small communities throughout the area to come together for a larger group experience that involves teaching, discussion, a significant venue for artistic expression, along with just hanging out. We’ll have gatherings on a monthly basis and try to arrange for some interesting locations.

Serving opportunities are a way for us to get practical with what we believe. We believe that the kingdom of God is within us and so it is here and now; only, it is not a reality for many people because Jesus followers haven’t ventured to where they live. That is where we want to go. We don’t know exactly where this will take us, but it will be real and it will help people where they need help.
