Trusty Trust
February 15, 2008Hey, thank you all for participating in the discussion last week! It was very lovely. (Ha! Ha! I made a funny!)
This week you have chosen trust as our topic for discussion. I am feeling so trusting that I think I will go ahead and pass on some of the discussion questions.
How important is trust in a relationship?
What is trust?
Is anyone totally trustworthy?
Here are some passages to look at:
- Mark 10:13-16 Trust and children
- Matthew 6:26-34 Trust and worry
- John 3:16-18 Trust and judgment (or not)
Why does it say, “In God We Trust” on our money?
Crazy Love
February 8, 2008This week at Communitas we are going to eat some of Patty’s Special, Wonderful, Extremely Delicious, Hot Sandwiches, catch up with one another, generally goof around and discuss the lovely topic of love, after all Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Do you know anything about the origins of this holiday that is best celebrated in pairs? Here’s a good site if you are interested in the history.
Here’s what we usually do during the discussion part of Communitas: I will introduce a topic and then we will discuss it. Since, I think the discussion is the most important part, I will never talk for more than ten minutes to set up the discussion. See you Sunday, my place, 220 Holdridge Ave.,Winthrop Harbor, IL at 5PM. Email or call if you have questions or need directions.

Grace & Peace
Welcome!
February 5, 2008Well, maybe it is so extremely normal that it seems a little strange. It’s about friends getting together in a very relaxed casual setting like a home, coffee shop, or pub. It’s about accepting each other just as we are and talking about life. It’s about sharing meals, fun, conversation, artistic expression, and as much or as little of our own story as we feel comfortable talking about.
What about the faith part? The faith part is about Jesus, not church, not religion, not do’s and don’t’s, not about compliance, not politics. The Jesus part is about grace, love, and acceptance.
As a matter of fact, I am sick of religion, tired of church, but intrigued by Jesus. Maybe, you can identify. My gaol: love people, Jesus style.
